Children's Academy |
We transformed a 1930s-era parochial school and place of worship into a new school for children with speech and language challenges. The design strikes a balance between the building’s traditional architectural details and its new, energetic occupants. The former sanctuary became a new multi-use auditorium space and sensory gym, with elegant sculptural lighting illuminating the ceilings and stained-glass windows. The corridor ceilings, criss-crossed by low beams, were painted in varying shades of blue, seamlessly connecting the classrooms and administrative areas. |
