East Village Penthouse |
We designed the complete renovation of an East Village penthouse and created a new private roof terrace. Since the apartment originally had low ceilings, the main building roof was raised, creating a loft-like interior. Walnut and honed bluestone floors combined with custom Danish cabinetry and furniture to present a restrained modern aesthetic. Large windows and a skylight above the stainless steel and glass stair illuminated the penthouse interior with daylight while creating a link to the terrace above. The terrace’s brick and bluestone parapets were topped off with a ribbon of low-iron glass to take advantage of the breathtaking views of midtown and lower Manhattan. |
