The Manhattan Children's Center |
MCC provides specialized education for students aged 5-21 with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other related neurodiversities. Over several years, we collaborated with the leadership team, conducting multiple site assessments at various locations across the west side of Upper and Lower Manhattan. After securing a lease in a Lefrak-owned building just three blocks from their existing location, we transformed a former commercial space into a new school designed specifically for their older students. Many of these students require essential life skills as they begin transitioning from a structured educational setting into the broader world. A highlight of the project was the creation of the Boomin’ Bakery, an innovative in-house enterprise that gives students the opportunity to operate a public-facing business, fostering real-world skills and independence. |
